Established in 1854 Sale Cricket Club has a long history in Cheshire Cricket. We currently field 3 senior teams in the The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County Cricket League and 6 junior teams at Under 9,11,13,14,15 and 18 levels. There is also an Over 40's team in the Cheshire County Cricket League.
Situated on the southern border of Greater Manchester the club boasts one of the largest and best-kept grounds in Cheshire. We have an open membership policy and always welcome new members.
We celebrated our 150th Anniversary in 2004 in style by securing promotion for all 3 senior teams; our 2nd & 3rd XI’s both finishing as Champions. In 2005 we held our position in the league and gained Clubmark accreditation which will help us with our plans to develop the Club and improve the facilities on offer. In 2006 the first team finshed fourth in the CCCL Division 2 while the 2nd XI finished 7th in Division 2. The 3rd XI finished 4th in the CCCL Sunday Division 3 East. In 2007 the 1st XI again finished fourth in their league, just 9 points behind promoted side Warrington. The 2nd XI were eighth and the 3rd XI finished 7th.
In 2008 the 1st XI finished the season in 7th position but the 2nd XI were worthy and convincing winners of their league with 15 wins out of 18 matches completed and will be competing in Division 1 in 2009. The Sunday 3rd XI finished a creditable 3rd having lost 7 matches to bad weather and the Over 40s ended 6th in East Division 2. In 2009 a 4th XI will be started due to the large number of juniors now coming through the age groups.
